Message from the Head
Dear Queen's Park Families,
As we head into the Easter break, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly joyful and action-packed term.
We’ve danced at the Dome, come face-to-face with reptiles, swam our hearts out at the swimming gala, met inspiring authors, welcomed families into school for brilliant year group assemblies, watched magic shows, celebrated Eid, and even competed at the Amex Stadium—and that’s just a glimpse! Most importantly, we’ve had fun, grown together, and achieved so much in our learning.
Looking ahead to next term, there’s even more to be excited about—sports days, our celebration of cultures day, the summer fair, and a host of exciting visits and visitors. We can’t wait to enjoy what’s to come.
I feel incredibly proud and grateful to work with such a dedicated and passionate staff team, who continue to go above and beyond to give our children the very best experiences. We are also so lucky to have such enthusiastic, curious, and inspiring children, and a wonderfully supportive parent community. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our school.
Wishing you all a relaxing, sunny, fun-filled break, full of special moments and memory-making.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday 23rd March.

Feeling Good, Feeling Safe in PSHE
Dear Parent/Carer,
Next half term children from all year groups will be learning the topic ‘Feeling Good, Feeling Safe’ in PSHE. The programme focusses on personal safety and supports pupils to recognise when they are not feeling safe. It provides them with skills and tools to help them take action and get help when needed.
We are teaching these lessons in line with the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance as well as the DfE ‘Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education’ guidance. We use plans provided by Brighton and Hove PSHE department but adapt these for our cohort of children.
The programme content includes:
- Understanding what safety feels like
- Exploring times when it is fun to feel scared
- Teaching children to recognise and trust their own ‘Early Warning Signs’ (body signals that alert us when we are not safe)
- Body awareness, privacy and secrets (including using scientific vocabulary for body parts)
- Understanding how to manage risky situations
- Identify who they can talk to if they are worried (networks and telling)
- Practice problem-solving skillsIn lesson 3, children will be learn
In lesson 3, children will be learning the correct scientific vocabulary for their body parts. This vocabulary has been carefully designed and tiered by Brighton and Hove PSHE department so that it is suitable for the children in each year group. Your child may discuss this vocabulary with you and we hope you will support them to use this vocabulary correctly and appropriately.
We hope that teaching this topic and vocabulary will support our pupils to become happy, confident and safe individuals.
If you have any concerns or questions about this topic, please speak to your class teacher or get in contact via the school office.
Many thanks for your ongoing support,
Lisa Collings (PSHE Co-ordinator)
y3 LIbrary & Pavilion Trip
We had an exciting trip to the library to meet the author of Marv and the Killer Plants, Alex Falase-Koya, during World Book Day.
We asked him lots of questions and lots of us were inspired to become authors ourselves!
We also went on a dragon hunt! We visited the Royal Pavilion to explore the home of King George IV.
