Year 3
What irresistible learning looks like in Year 3
We have super exciting learning journeys:
In Autumn Term, we travelled back in time to the Stone Age period.
In Spring Term, we flew around Europe and then dived into the world of dragons.
In Summer Term, we explore the joys of park life.
We have also had fantastic immersion days. We became Stone Age hunter gathers. We practiced stalking deer, throwing spears at our prey and we created Stone Age outfits. We showed these off in a fabulous fashion show at the end of the day. We then used this day to inspire us for our recount writing. To help inspire us with our instruction writing we made our own Stone Age jewellery.
For our European Adventure topic, we flew to Paris on an aeroplane. The children created their own passports which were stamped as they checked in their baggage. They then made their way through passport control before boarding the plane. After take-off the children enjoyed complementary refreshments. Once we landed in Paris we used maps to help us on our European fact-finding treasure hunt.
As well as this, we also had a very exciting trip to The Royal Pavilion. Here we searched high and low for dragons and discovered King George IV's passion for luxury and food!
This term we have had a scientific focus and we are learning about the importance of bees and what plants need to survive and thrive. We are looking forward to visiting Queen's Park to try to answer the question: Does Brighton need a green space like Queen's Park?
In Year 3, we take part in the Children's Parade. This year our interpretation of the theme 'Dreams' was based on the aspiration of becoming an Olympian. We chose and created our own flags and medals that were personal to us, representing a variety of countries. It was a fantastic day!
We love reading in Year 3! We have immersed ourselves in many rich texts this year including Bee Boy, The Secret Beast Club and The Boy who Biked the World. We also love to celebrate our writing and often meet up with other year groups to share our fantastic written work.
