Newsletter Friday 17th January 2025

Dear Queen's Park Families,

Thank you to everyone who attended the secondary school consultation meeting yesterday. You represented our community so well and shared such vital messages which we need to be considered in this proposal. If you could not attend but are still keen to discuss this further, please contact us and we will happily discuss this. If you haven’t yet responded to the online consultation survey, there’s still time! The consultation is open until 31st January 2025, and it’s crucial that the council hears the voices of our community. Your feedback will help shape inclusive admission arrangements for the future. To have your say, please follow this link: https://yourvoice.brighton-hove.gov.uk/en-GB/projects/school-admission-arrangements-public-consultation.

A huge thank you to those who joined us for our first mobile phone workshop this morning. Your engagement and input are invaluable to our school community. The workshop was incredibly useful for us as a school, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to work alongside our families to find potential solutions to the challenges in our children's lives. We plan to rerun this workshop regularly throughout the year, with the hope of sharing our important findings with the wider community and working together to navigate the next steps. Watch this space!

Nearly every year group has completed their sense of belonging artwork and it has been an absolute joy to see it going up - decorating our corridors. Once it is all up, we will invite you all in to wander the corridors enjoying the artwork and considering our children's perspective on belonging.

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend together and look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Your Child's Attendance Questionnaire

We are reviewing school attendance and gathering information to try and better support our students and families.

Attendance and punctuality is a huge issue for lots of people and we want to make sure we have a clear understanding of the challenges our community faces, to help our children flourish.

Regular school attendance has a big impact on general well-being, confidence, social abilities and overall success. But we also know that it can be hard for both children and parents / carers to get into school.

We would like to hear from as many of you as possible! We want to understand your views on school attendance.

The responses to the questionnaires will be used to find out about common challenges.

Please note the questionnaire is taken anonymously, however we do ask for the child's age to successfully monitor trends.

Queen’s Park Primary School Uniform Policy

We hope this letter finds you well. As we start the new term, we’d like to take the opportunity to remind everyone about our school uniform expectations.

Our uniform helps promote a sense of community and pride in our school, and we kindly ask for your support in ensuring that all pupils come to school wearing the correct attire. The required uniform is as follows:

  • Navy blue sweatshirt, cardigan, or jumper (with or without the school logo).
  • Plain black trousers, shorts, or skirt (no denim).
  • Plain white polo shirt.
  • Navy blue and white checked summer dress (optional in warmer weather).
  • Black shoes or trainers (a small logo, such as a Nike tick, is acceptable). Shoes must be sensible and suitable for school—no backless shoes, crocs, flip-flops, etc. They should also be suitable for running on the playground.

All items can be purchased from local supermarkets. If you would like to purchase uniform items with the school logo, please speak to our reception team, who will be happy to assist you.

Support for Families

We understand that purchasing school uniform can sometimes be challenging. If your family is experiencing financial difficulties, please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher.  We are supported by the charity Pelican Parcels, which can provide non-branded school uniform, black school shoes, and PE trainers for children in need.

Thank you for helping us maintain our uniform standards and for ensuring your child is dressed appropriately for school. Together, we can continue to foster a positive and respectful learning environment for all.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
