Message from the Head
It's been great to see so many children in their odd socks today!
We've had a big focus on anti-bullying this week and children have completed some fantastic work highlighting the importance of respect. I particularly liked the quote from the anti-bullying alliance below:
"Imagine a world where respect and kindness thrives — it’s not just a dream, it's in the choices we make."
I had the pleasure of attending forest school with our reception children this week. We had such a wonderful time playing in the leaves, learning about nature and making magical sticks. Ms. Manley is leading our forest school and we are busy discussing how we will grow this across the school.
A little plea for extra-curricular clubs. We have an array of clubs on offer which we hope to continue to grow. To make clubs viable, we really need children to sign up for them and keep them full. Clubs are a great way of finding new interests and nurturing current ones. Our next clubs rotation will start in January and it would be great to see as many children in them as possible. Please do speak to us if we can support with children attending clubs.
Hot Choc with Head has been bursting at the seams for the past couple of weeks which can only mean that we have more and more children who are behaving like role-models across the school. It is getting to the point that I'll need a bigger office if this continues! Well done to everyone who is getting hot choc, golden tickets, attendance awards and house points!
Thank you to everyone who has been recommending our school to others, I have heard so many of our reception tour families say that they have been told what great things we are doing at Queen's Park by one of our current Queen's Park Families. We know that filling up the school has a hugely positive impact on funding which benefits all of our children across the school so we are very grateful for your support.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

School business manager update
It is with a mix of emotions that I write to inform you of my decision to leave Queens Park school. The decision to move forward in my career was not made lightly as my time at Queens Park Primary School has been incredibly rewarding. Working with Mrs Gale, who's vision and dedication to move the school forward and create an environment where both staff and pupils can thrive has been so inspiring.
I am grateful for the opportunity, time and experiences that I have gained and feel so proud to have been part of Queens Parks School and its community.
Thank you for all of your support during my time here.

year 3 - stone age day
Year 3 made their own Stone Age clothing, had a fashion show and took part in hunter gatherer training.
In the afternoon, they sat around the campfire storytelling and printed Stone Age designs onto our purses that we are making and now writing recounts of their day.
Schools Cross-Country Report
On Wednesday, Queen's Park took a team of 22 children from year 5 and 6 to the Brighton and Hove School's Cross-country at Waterhall Playing fields. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the conditions were perfect for running. All the children put in a huge amount of effort to get around the challenging, hilly course of around 2km. There were 4 races in total for the girls and boys in year 5 and 6 with each race containing around 300 runners.
Some notable performances: Eliza in year 5 came a super-impressive 8th place in her race. Autumn was 39th in the year 6 girls race and Georgii and Raph were 62nd and 69th respectively in the year 6 boys. There were some very tired legs afterwards so a huge well done to all of the children for completing the race!
Roblox parental controls
Roblox is a popular online gaming platform that engages millions of children worldwide, offering creative and social experiences. However, despite being designed for kids, it comes with risks such as exposure to inappropriate content and interactions with strangers.
To help parents manage these concerns, it's crucial to understand the platform's parental controls and safety tools, such as the 'Account Restrictions' and the 'Parent PIN' features.
Additionally, parents can utilize the Mirror feature to monitor gameplay in real-time, ensuring their children have a safe and positive online experience. Click the link to learn more about protecting your child on Roblox and fostering a secure digital environment.

Vaping: What Parents Should Know
Vaping has become increasingly appealing to younger individuals, with products often marketed through enticing flavors and modern packaging. Unlike traditional smoking, vaping can be harder to detect, as it often emits sweet, subtle scents and produces aerosol mist instead of smoke. Recognizable signs parents should watch for include unexplained coughing, sweet or fruity odors, and the presence of e-cigarette cartridges or devices. Health risks tied to vaping include nicotine addiction, exposure to harmful chemicals, lung damage, and mental health impacts such as increased anxiety and depression.
Here are some sites that might be useful to support in developing awareness of this raising trend.
